  • SB 12 Proposed Rules - Deadline July 27

Texas Education Agency (TEA) is calling for public comment on its proposed rules related to SB 12. Deadline for submissions is coming up fast -- Monday, July 27. Comments must be submitted using this form, either directly into the text box or as an attached document with a short intro.

These rules are in draft form and do not take effect until all public comments have been reviewed and final edits have been made accordingly. For now, school districts are encouraged to adhere to TEA's model language and the FAQ document that were both updated June 18, 2026. Additional information can be found on their 89th Legislature Updates page.

Public comments are most effective when they’re clear, professional, and grounded in real experience. Here are a few tips to help your voice be heard:

    • Be solution-focused. TEA reviews every comment, and specific, solutions-oriented feedback carries more weight than general frustration.
    • Ground your comments in evidence. Explain how a proposed rule would affect students, staff, or daily practice — concrete examples help TEA understand the real world impact.
    • Stay within your area of expertise. Comments that reflect your professional scope and experience are the most credible and persuasive.
